Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

Restitution hearing

My sister in law stole a 10 speed bike from my home. She pled guilty and received a no contact order and ordered to appear in court for a Restitution Hearing in August. Will she be ordered to pay for the bike or is it possible that she will not to have to pay me back for the bike she stole? What happens at this hearing and why couldn't they just order her to pay for the bike when she pled guilty? Thank you.

Re: Restitution hearing

They did order her to pay for the bike when she plead guilty. The restitution hearing is to determine the amount she needs to pay based on the value of the bike. So, you should provide some documentation to the prosecutor about the cost to you. If the prosecutor can not prove the value of the bike than it is possible that she will not have to pay you back.
