search warrents

A freind of mine came home one day to find the police at his home, searching his property without a search warrent.They told him that they where flying over his property ( 12 ac's) and spotted some pot plants, and asked him to take a walk with them to the plants he told them he had no knowlage of them. Anyway he was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance. is it leagal for them to search his property w/o a warrent

Police may search areas that were in "plain view" that had incriminating evidence. However, there are a number of particulars to any search issue. This is a serious charge so he should retain counsel who can review the particulars with him. Contact me directly if you'd like further assistance.
