theft charge help

I was ticketed for theft on a military base. What are my options? I am looking to talk to an attorney and see if diversion or probation might work in my case. I have never been in trouble before. I don't even know where to start. Please someone offer some help or advice.

Re: theft charge help

First, I can only answer for if you are charged in State court, if you are charged in military court you will have to talk to a JAG officer. But, as for state court, you are likely to get a diversion with a very short probation period. It does depend on what you stole. The more minor the theft, the more minor the punishment. The main thing is to stay calm, don't talk to any non-lawyer about the case (especially any investigating police / detectives) and wait for the case to develop naturally. Do you have a court date on the ticket? If so, for where and when? Contact me directly to follow up.

At your service,
