Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

Theft by check

I wrote 400.00 in bad checks to Pizza Hut on an account that I did not know was closed. He wants money by the 22nd and I do not get paid until the 3rd of October. If I don't pay he will turn me in. I am a single mom and will lose everything including my child

Wow! I am sorry to hear about your this. Writing checks off a closed account can get you into a lot of trouble. I don't know how likely a jury is to believe you didn't know the account was closed (perhaps you could explain some of the circumstances there). There is nothing to prevent him from getting the money from you and turning you in. You could get him to sign a compromise of misdemeanor agreement in advance of paying him but that will not help if this is charged as a felony (over $250 and/or fraud).

Maybe you could borrow the money from someone? If not, you should talk to him and provide him some proof that you get paid on the the 3rd, and not before.

At your service,
