Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington
Theft from a friend
So I entered into a friends residence unlawfully and took a piece of his property that he hasn't used in years. He noticed and the police are involved. If I go to him and return his belongings and he drops the charges can I be held liable for anything else? Does it make a difference if he lives in another state?

Re: Theft from a friend
Do not go to him and return the items as you are giving proof positive that you are guilty of residential burglary--a class B felony. Don't talk to him or anyone else about your case except your lawyer. He does not have the power to "drop the charges" so do not make your case worse by trying to take care of it yourself.
