Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Washington
Hiring a 'plant' - I had no chance
I worked on contract for Mgr when he was out. He was let goafter VP hired person to look into QB-indiscretions in books. I was called by the VP of Bd of a NonProf independent retiremt, to fill in. Ad went in paper for new Mgr., many applicants interviewed, including me.
In the end, person originally called by VP (whom he'd known previously) to look at QB, was hired.
I feel I had no chance at all as VP of Bd already made up his mind. VP has swayed 3 or more of Bd of 9 to his way of thinking. Interview was with one of these swayed, VP and one neutral so 2/3 vote and of course I'm out.
Do i have any recourse? should also mention since i know the place, i am training new Mgr!

Re: Hiring a 'plant' - I had no chance
You only have recourse if there was violation of some law, such as the law against discrimination. Otherwise, the VP just wasted everyone's time by interviewing them when he already had someone in mind.
You win some, you lose some. Ask the VP what you need to work on to become better qualified the next time a manager position is available. In other words, use this as a learning experience.
