Private Jewish school denies Non Jew

My son was denied entrance to a private Jewish school because he and his mother are not Jewish. Is this legal?

Re: Private Jewish school denies Non Jew

I am nearly certain that they are within their rights.

Question: are you Jewish?

By the way, how do you know that was the real reason? Did they say so? Did they write it down?

Again, though, I think they are within their rights. "Non-Jew" is not one of the so-called protected

classes (of underprivileged and historically discriminated) people protected by federal discrimination

laws. Minority religions normally are protected, but not 'not this minority religion' as is the case here.

Query: would you want him to go there, really, though? Consider that they probably teach Hebrew, the Torah

(Old Testament, in Hebrew), Jewish philosophy, etc. Even Jewish friends of mine won't send their kids to such

a school because they want the kids to learn English, Math, etc. the most. Furthermore, the kid would be missing

out when other kids talked about their various holidays at home, keeping kosher, observing rituals, etc. Your

son would be a fish out of water.

Sorry. I'm sure it's an excellent school overall, though. I bet it's close by

for you, too.
