Re: Dui

Unfortunately, the bench warrant does not expire. The court will continue to renew the warrant. Quite possibly, it will be renewed in perpetuity.

It does help that you have not been in trouble since then. Still, you need to face the court and deal with the sentence. And the court is likely to be upset (despite your lack of criminal activity since), for your failure to comply with its orders.

One thing to evaluate is whether you can address what you did not complete (treatment, community service, fines, etc). The court is less likely to revoke your sentence (and place you in jail), if you don't come back empty handed. Finally, consider having a lawyer represent you to quash your warrant and attend the review hearing.

Your option is to determine what you had left to do, try to complete it, and figure out the best way to clear the warrant. It's best in a situation like this to hire counsel who can streamline a court appearance (though this does not necessarily guarantee that you won't get arrested in court on the warrant) AND to show before the court with proof of compliance (or at least attempted compliance) The matter will NOT go away--trust me, as a former DAC attorney, I saw 10 year old cases come back before the court once the defendant was located.
