Legal Question in DUI Law in Washington

Minor

I have a DUI and two MIPs (one before and one after the DUI). There's a lot of stuff that I've had to do (pay fines, counseling, AA, community service) as well as not drinking or going to bars. I turn 21 in a few months and am wondering if then I will be allowed to go to bars and drink responsibly.

Re: Minor

If you are not on probation for any of the offenses, you can consume alcohol after reaching the age of 21 years.

If you are still on probation, you will need to review the conditions of your probation to see if the court ordered that you not possess or consume alcohol. If so, it matters not what age you are.

Be advised that by "being on probation", I mean that you received a suspended or deferred sentence and that the court retains jurisdiction for a specific period of time. It does not require that you are checking in or reporting to a probation officer.

Some courts impose probation for up to five years in DUI cases.
