This is an important question in many cases where children are involved in accidents while in a daycare at the Y. It is likely that a child remains in custody until the moment they are given over to an employee, representative or agent of the school. E.g., if a child is in a before-school daycare at the Y, then walked over to his/her school, during that walk they remain in Y custody.
