Legal Question in Elder Law in Washington
Caregivers
Do I need to pay social security and misc taxes for a cargiver who is hired as a contractor/service giver? Is there a way to pay them as a contractor for them to be responsible for their own?

Re: Caregivers
Try posting again as an employment question.
If the caregiver has their own business you would report their income on a 1099.
If you employ them, then yes you are responsible for withholding taxes.
You might contact DSHS to determine if there is a program where DSHS can pay the person, e.g COPES
