Legal Question in Elder Law in Washington
elderly parents and finances
My mother and step father are in their late sixties and still live on their own, but, are having trouble with their finances. I have tried to set a budget, but, they will not follow it and end up short each month with overdrawn accounts and one time an eviction notice due to their rent check bouncing.
I am just wondering what our next step should be. It is very frustrating for everyone. My mom is also addicted to pain pills and my step dad has had TIA's and is a severe alcoholic. They don't pay anything together. My dad just tries to do it, and my mom just spends whenever she wants. I also live 80 miles away.
