Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
16 year old daughter divorces
My 16 year old daughter was married to a 28 year old man for 6 months. What are her property rights in a divorce? His house, cars, and cash are owned by a trust account his foster dad is trustee of. Is she entitled
to anything? Does she get half of their belongings in the house? He also won't let her have her computer he bought her for christmas. The court ordered a restraining order so she could get her personal belongings, but not the computer. They said she can't try to get it until the divorce settlement. He gets to keep everything until then. Because of her age can she receive allimony or temporary spousal support from him? The trust money bought them a vacation package, cost 12,000. She had to sign papers for it to be in her name too, does she loose her membership? He said he had her name taken off. Please help with any question that you can, thanks.

Re: 16 year old daughter divorces
Your daughter needs to see an attorney immediately. She has rights but will need to fight for them. Your questions all turn on specific facts and without the actual facts it is difficult to comment. If money is an issue many attornyes will offer an initial consultation at a reduce rate. You should go to my web site at v-law.com which has some general discussion on community property etc. Good Luck
