15 year old no longer wants to visit a parent

A 15 year old no longer wants to see his father for the scheduled visitation. Can a 15 year old petition the court to change the parenting plan to allow hm not to see his father?

What the teenager wants isn't important to the Court, unfortunately.

Fifteen year olds cannot file lawsuits or motions - they aren't old enough. Somebody has to do it for them.

Court is likely to think that you (the residential parent) had something to do with your child's attitude. This can have serious consequences.

I'd be really cautious before advising the court what the 15 year old wants, because it sounds like it is coming from you.

Hope this helps - Elizabeth Powell
