Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

16 year old runaway

Child custody for Jason was written in

California, I just moved to Las Vega,

his mother just moved to Oregon

leaving Jason in the state of

Washington to fend for himself

because he refused to go to Oregon

with her. He is not working, does not

go to school and is running out of

places to stay. Can I force him to go

with his mother or come to Las

Vegas legally? If he gets into trouble,

am I legally responsible for him even

though he refuses to leave

Washington and live with one of his

parents?

Re: 16 year old runaway

You and his mother are both responsible for him until he is 18 or legally emancipated. Are you divorced or married? In either case an emergency motion under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act could be filed to get a pick up order to take your child into your custody.
