abiding by divorce papers

in my divorce papers i put down and ex husband signed and agreed to pay me for partial payment of a car that he had bought me for christmas - i traded in that car and there was a roll over to my new car is he still responsible for that payment amount that he promised

The answer to this would depend on how the payment was structured (the exact words) in the decree. E.g. if the provision says that it a payment for that specific car, you may not be able to compel the continued payment after you have disposed of that car, but if it simply specified an amount to be paid for a period to assist you with paying for a car (without specifying what car, it would probably continue).
