Re: what is abondament?

I'm not sure what you want to know. If you want the definition, you can look it up in a dictionary. If you want to know what the legal consequences are in family law, the answer is that there are no specific consequences, the only basis for dissolution of marriage is that the marriage is irretrievably broken. A long term abandonment (several years) may have some odd effects, but I would not rely on them. Child support is not affected by abandonment as such, although there may be a claim for back child support to the date of the abandonment, there may be an effect on spousal maintenance, but that will also be affected by several other factors. You need to talk to an attorney and provide more specific information to get a more specific answer.
