Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Adoption after remarriage
What is the process I need to do to have my daughter legally adopted my her stepfather? The divorce took place in Washington state. The paternal father is no where to be found, he has not paid child support in 8 years. He has not even visited her, we do not know where he lives. Does the father have any rights? I would like to do this very inexpensively if possible. Thank you for your help.

I suggest you consult a local attorney. There are provision to terminate parental rights where there has been evidence of abandonment. Your facts seem to justify the position. However, you will have to make an attempt to give notice to the father and may want to investigage how you can do this. The expense is up to you and your attorney.
