Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Alimony and Child Support

We live in Clark County Washington. We have been married 5 1/2 years. I have been a stay at home mother for the entire marriage. Our children are ages 10 and 5. My husband makes 2800.00 per month after taxes. How much alimony and child support are my children and myself entitled to?

Re: Alimony and Child Support

Child support is set according to a legally set formula. You can go online and get the schedules and forms to do your own calculations. I would need more specific information about deductions, etc. from your husband's pay check. Alimony, called maintenance in this state, is based upon two factors: 1) the recipient's need for such spousal support, and 2) the paying party's ability to pay after child support is taken into account. Maintenance is not set according to any established table or schedule; it is set to what a judge thinks is necessary and reasonable. You shoul dseea family law lawyer ASAP. Good Luck!
