Conversion is a tort (for civil taking of property). It is not a family law matter. To respond to a summons and complaint you should file an answer within 20 days of being served. The answer should be laid out similarly to the complaint and the answers should be paragraph by paragraph responses, that either admit or deny or assert lack of knowledge and therefore deny. Lack of knowledge requires true lack of knowledge and no reasonable way to find the answer. For example if the allegation in one of the paragraphs was that your driver's license number was ABCDEFG200AK, you could not just say you lack knowledge, when you could pull your driver's license out of your wallet and look. You must file the original with the clerk of the court and a copy served on counsel for the plaintiff.
