Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Boyfriend threatening to sue

He has been living in my home for 1+ years and we just purchased a boat. Now breaking up. He emptied our joint account. He put a small modicum of $ towards the 70k boat I just purchased. He paid $2400 towards closing costs. I financed the boat and have spent over 10k on downpmnt, slip fees, documentation, etc. The boat is being sold. I anticipate losting about 7k total due to broker's commision. He is now telling me that if he doesn't recoup his $2400, he will sue me. Would he have any kind of case?

Re: Boyfriend threatening to sue

It is possible, but not probable that he would effect a recovery on the $2400. I hope that both of you were signed on the financing and title for the boat. That would support a distribution of the value/debt on the boat.
