The answer to your question depends upon many variables. When you say start dissolution proceedings, what do you mean? Filing of papers? Service of papers? Discovery process completed? Going to another state means that you have to comply with the new state's residency requirements. If your spouse is still in the old state, he or she could continue with the dissolution in that state whether you liked it or not. This is a complex situation that requires more information and this BBS is not an appropriate forum to answer your question becaus of the need for far more information. I would be happy to assist you in this inquiry if you call me at my office and set up a telephone or in-person consultation.
