Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

child custody, adoption

My daughters biological father is not a part of her life and we don't have any parenting plan set up. He has a long rapsheet and a history against us of Domestic Violence. I was never married to him, but I am married now and my husband is her ''daddy''. My question is if their is a way to have my husband adopt her. He is not a u.s. citizen but we are in the process of fixing that. Do we have to get some kind of consent from my daughters father to make her legally my husbands?

Re: child custody, adoption

You will want to get a waiver of parental relationship and consent to adopt, you should caption it the same as the adoption. Otherwise adoption will be at best extremely difficult.
