at what age do my boys get to a chance to decied who they want to live with

They can decide who they want to live with at any age. But until they are 18 years old, adults make the decision about who the live with. The court will listen to what they want and give it more weight as they get older, but they will communicate that through a GAL, CASA or FCS. The court will consider why as much as what they want.
