my common law husband has a child that's not our but we want to get custody the child is in washington and so was he but he wants to come to californa were he has better job opportunties and we have a steady resident what are our chances the child is in foster care in washington and has been for the last three years

There is no such thing as common law marriage in california. However if you are seeking to adopt a foster child then you should seek the help of an adoption attorney to provide some consultation on the proper legal channels to go through.
