Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Child Custody

I'm the grandmother maternal of two little girls. In which the mother had her children removed by cps. My question is now that they are dependents of the state in which they are in relative placement with my other daughter is it to late for me to get 3rd party custody if the mother and father wants to give it to me. Will cps have a say if the mother and father agree to it. Also i'm looking to attain an attorney please contact me.

Re: Child Custody

The best interest of the children is the standard that the court will apply. Some, but not all of the factors that the court may consider are how long they have been with the mother's sister, whether that will facilitate maintaining important relationships, stability of the household they are in now. I can't tell you whether you should pursue a non-parental custody action or whether you would be successful. I would need much more information on what the current placement is and its procedural development.
