Child custody

I have a ten yr old son and I am not married to his mother, I want out of the relationship even if I have to leave our home, what is the best way to ensure that I will not be accused of abandoning my son.

Your question requires several pieces of information out that will affect where and how to handle this matter. Where does the child live? That will determine in which State you will need to address the issues. Has paternity been established (usually by signing an acknowledgment of paternity or by court action)?
