Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Child support

Thank you so much for answering my question, I appreciate your time very much. I hope I have everything you need this time.

The child is 18 years old and will now be going to community college. Will the noncustodial parent be required to pay child support and a portion of the college fee for this adult child?

The first order of support stated child support is complete when the child turns 18 or graduates highschool. The child support was modified to raise the amount of child support while the child was in high school, and the order was left open pending post secondary support. Would this mean paying for college or continuing child support.

This child is able to work and does well in school.

This is what the order states:

The right to petition for post secondary support is reserved, (provided that the right is exercised before support terminates as set forth in paragraph 3.13)

This part is crossed out and added:

Respondent has already requested post secondary support and is reserved by this order for future hearing with respect to the childs immediate pursuit of post secondary education in due course after H.S. graduation.

Re: Child support

Except for the last two lines (i.e. after "... added:") the information you provided was not relevant to the question. As to the relevant portion, it is so ineptly written and confusing that I can't tell you what it means. I think you are going to have to get a court to tell you what this means: "Respondent has already requested post secondary support and is reserved by this order for future hearing with respect to the childs immediate pursuit of post secondary education in due course after H.S. graduation." I am curious, did an attorney write the provision in question?
