Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Child Support & Arrears Responsiblitiy of Payment

Hello- In two months, I will be getting married to a person that has been mandated by PA State for child support and arrears, in which he pays consistently... My question is, once we get married is there any possiblity of my annual income or tax return being recalculated into his court order?? Basically, I don't want to pay for a child from his previous relationship that we never see or hear from... Is there anyway for me not to be financially responsible and only his income remaining as sole calculation for support & arrears?

In WA, your income would be noted by the Court but not used as a basis to calculate his support/arrearage.

Clearly his child is his responsibility.

That said WA is a community property state and you might consider talking to a lawyer about how to keep from mingling assets that are now your separate property once your assets become community property (when you marry). It can be done.
