child support

My boyfriends daughter has been missing for almost 2 years. she ran away from a foster home and hasnt been see sinse. anyways my boyfriend recently got a garnishment letter for his daughter, like i said has been missing. how can anyone collect money for somebody thats not even aroud?........anyways hopeto hear from you soon,,,, jsn........

Your question does not give enough information to give a good answer. However, you can probably find the answer yourself by calling the person or agency that wrote the letter and asking them. Your boyfriend should also send a public records request to the agency for all available information. I presume you are dealing with the DSHS, and their form is at http://www.wa.gov/dshs/dshsforms/forms/17_041.pdf.

Also, if the "garnishment letter" tells you how to respond, and by a certain time, BE SURE to do that. If you don't, you will not be able to fight the "garnishment". Your boyfriend may need an attorney to handle this.

He may also have a lawsuit against the DSHS for not taking care of his daughter.
