Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Child Support Figures
I reimburse my ex-wife for my share of our daughter's day care expenses. When figuring out our child support amounts, do I claim this or not on the worksheet under Day Care and Special Child Rearing Expenses? She is claiming I can't because I don't pay the school directly, but at the same time she claims she can claim this as an expense and she wants to claim all of it, my portion AND hers. I totally disagree with that. Am I wrong? Do we claim this amount or not? Same question for travel expenses. Since I pay for them, and she reimburses me (usually), do we claim these costs on the worksheet or not?
Thanks.

Re: Child Support Figures
The worksheet should show that the funds for day care are paid by you. Has nothing to do with whether the money goes through her or not. You are paying it. She won't get to claim expenses that you are paying.
If you pay for travel and she reimburses you that seems different. There, she's paying for it; she should be able to claim it.
Hope this helps. Powell
