Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Child Support

In the State of Washington by what percentage can be taking out for child support of a person's pay? I make 12.75 an hour. I pay $832 for my two beautiful children down in Florida, but the case is in Washington. I will start paying $258 for another child in Washington. I am borderline living on the streets. Living out of a Trailer with no power and showering at the local public marina showers. I heard that Child support is caluclating at 20% of your pay? is this correct?

Re: Child Support

In WA child support is not calculated as a percentage of a person's pay, but from a table based on combined incomes of the parties. As to your second question it could happen that child support would be 20% of your pay, but that is not the way it is calculated. To your third question the answer is no.

You can calculate your child support at this url:

http://www.courts.wa.gov/ssgen/

You have to understand and follow the rules that apply to calculating monthly income or you are wasting your time. The detailed schedule and instructions are found at: http://www.courts.wa.gov/forms/?fa=forms.contribute&formID=73

There is also a concept called whole family that can affect how much child support you pay for each child.
