Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Child support in washington state
I am named the non custodial parent in my child support case and have recently reconciled with the custodial parent. I am obligated to pay 197 dollars a month in child support as of now but what i'm wondering about is whether i will be ordered to pay after I let support enforcement know about me and my ex husband reconciling and moving back in together and sharing all financial responsibilities for the child and the household expences.

Re: Child support in washington state
The situation you describe is one that would justify terminating child support payments if requested. I would encourage you both to continue to keep the child support order in place and operating (it really should not make any difference if you are truly sharing financial responsibilities, and in the event that the reconciliation does not last you won't have to go back to court to reestablish it (there were reasons you parted, and if they are not resolved they may re-emerge in the course of time). Only if you re-marry would I recommend terminating the order of support. Another consideration: It looks like you both may be residing in OR; if that is the case, you should be able to register your order of support into OR under the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act, check with an OR attorney on how OR has implemented the UIFSA and how to effect registration of the support order in OR.
