Child Visitation Rights

Is there an age when a child has some say in visitation? My stepson wants to involve himself in things like hunting this year. He worked very hard to pass his hunter safety class and was excited. His natural father is scheduled for visitation on opening weekend as it turns out. His natural father is extremely controlling, called every night for the last 9 years and not interested in the child as much as getting his way. The child is 12 years old and resides in Washington State. I assume that I will have to break his heart but was wondering when or if a child has some say at some point. The parenting plan doesn�t seem to address this issue.

Adults decide for the children until their 18th birthday. As children get older their views are given more weight but it is registered through the GAL or CASA. The father may be controlling, but you left me with a feeling that you are manipulative. Read the way you framed your question.
