Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Community property agreement valid?

Husband said he was divorcing me last night after a marriage counseling session in which I stated that I will no longer accept his abusive and controlling behavior. This is my second marriage to him and we have been together for 12 years. I really don't know where to turn since he controls all of our finances. He divorced me originally out of the blue the last time and left me fiancially under his thumb. I sold my own business to work with him and have contributed much to our success. After the 1st divorce he begged me to forgive what he had done (he just got ''scared)and said if I remarried him he would put ALL of the assets, including our home that was in his name in a community property agreement to show his sincerity and loyalty and to give me the security I ''deserved''. We transferred everything into this agreement as well as quit claimed everything that was seperate to the communit. This was done by an attorney approx. 1 year ago. I am not working,in need of major surgery and he has all the financial control. I feel overwhelmed and totally at his mercy (like I did before) We have alot of money-bulk in C Corp he had 12 years ago. Any chance in a 3 year marriage I will be treated 50/50 or am I again at the mercy of the system?

Re: Community property agreement valid?

There are community property agreements and they are generally enforceable, but I could not comment on the relative strength of yours or whether the formalities were properly performed in executing it without having a chance to actually read it. There are mechanisms for getting some initial attorney's fees paid (using a motion for temporary order).
