Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Contest a Divorce settlement
What do I need to contest a divorce settlement? All the financial information that my ex based the child support on is from a previous job, which I made more money. Now I make a lot less in my career field starting from the beginning. What documents do I need in court?

Re: Contest a Divorce settlement
Under Washington law you would petition for a modification of the Order of Support. The minimum documentation to start the process is petition, summons (support modification) and child support worksheet. If the other party contests the process, you would have to file a financial declaration and source financial documents (sealed). Depending on which county you are filing in you will have somewhat different timelines for events. You may also want to consider a motion for temporary orders to effect more immediate relief.

That is A LOT to cover by e'mail.
I can explain the issues and procedures better by phone or in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via e'mail. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss the matter in more detail.
Please call me directly to discuss the specifics of your case, or contact my assistant Alicia or my paralegal Jennifer to schedule a free 1/2 hour consultation.
