Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Continuance in divorce proceeding?

My husband is representing himself, we have been seperated over a year. We cannot agree on a parenting plan, and he refuses to pay child care and support. My court date is June 2nd, 2006 in pierce county WA, and I'm wondering if I'm allowed when I go into court to request a continuance to obtain legal council? Two minor children are involved. Thank you for any responses or help.

Re: Continuance in divorce proceeding?

You can ask for a continuance, whether the court grants the continuance is a matter of discretion, and the court does not have to grant it.
