Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
continuance
I have recently filed for a parenting plan. Our temporary hearing is this Friday but the mother of my child wants to get a continuance because her lawyer cant do it that day. I am not going to sign/agree to this. I want the date to remain friday. Do I even need to respond to their request?

Re: continuance
Continuances are a normal part of court. If you do not agree, the lawyer may well ask that you be responsible for part of their attorney fees for requiring them to appear when they cannot, and the work entailed to re-set a hearing when you could have simply agreed to do so.
This is a power struggle you are going to lose, so the sooner you get gracious about it, the less expensive it will be for you.
