Re: Custody

You are a minor until your 18th birthday, and thus cannot make decisions for yourself without court intervention.

If you are in danger or immediate threat, tell your school counselor who must report to CPS. They'll investigate and make sure you are OK. If your real mom has issues such that they don't consider her a suitable placement, then you could wind up in foster care.

Where is your Dad in all this? He's the one who has custody as between himself and your real mom.

This is fairly complex stuff. Have you considered talking to the adults and explaining that you want more time with your real mom?

Hope this helps - Elizabeth Powell
