Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Debt Responsibility After Divorce
In the divorce decree it was written that all remaining debt incurred during the marriage is the responsibility of the person whom actually incurred that debt. Re: medical bills for the care of that specific person. If all my specific debts have been satisfied after the divorce am I still responsible for debts that were specific to her?

Re: Debt Responsibility After Divorce
The short answer is yes (because your decree can't affect (damage) the interests of creditors). You would have recourse against her for failing to comply with the decree, but that is between you and her (not the creditors' problem). This is not an uncommon problem, as many divorces include serious financial stresses.
