Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Definition of minor or legal age in Wa state
Son is 19. Father pays no child support anymore. Decree states all medical, dental and orthodontia would be split 50/50 by mother and father. Haven't asked for any money for medical/dental in about 8-10 yrs, because coverage used to be so much better. Received a $335. dental bill and would like Dad to pay half. Need to know legal definition of minor. Son has always lived with Mom and Step Dad. He is a full time student.

Read your order of child support very closely. Is your son a full time student in high school or college or trade school? Was this bill incurred before he turned 19 or even 18 and was still a full time student? Young people going to school. i.e., college, are considered dependent adult children for financial aid purposes but not for child support purposes. Are you getting post secondary educational support for this child? Many questions require a consultation.
