Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Divorce decree payments
Part of my divorce decree (through Washington state) is that I have to pay $50 to my ex husband, and $100 to my ex father in law for money owed to them from when I was married.
Up until January, I paid this on time with no issues. Well, times have gotten tough and I have fallen behind. My ex husband has said that I was supposed to be served paperwork by a process server here in Texas where I live. He has my correct addres since he mails child support every two weeks. He says that the process server was unable to verify the address yesterday. I am not sure what that means. Now he says that on Monday when I pick up our son in Seattle from his visitation, I will be served at 9 pm by this server.
If he does file a civil suit against me, what is the process and would it be possible for what he has said to happen? I mailed a payment this week and will be catching up. So I am not sure what to do or think from here.
Please help!

Re: Divorce decree payments
I don't practice law in WA state so I cannot address their laws.
Just take the papers, at least then you will know what is going on.
I don't understand what the process server meant by he "could not verify your address".
He might just be "jerking your chain" to scare you!
To hire an attorney to sue you for such a small amount of money is ridiculous. But, then ridiculous people keep attorneys in business.
