Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Divorce
When our divorce was finished the final decree was that I get my daughter and my ex pay's $25.00 in child support, and I pay my ex $500.00 a month in maintenance. It also states that if she gets married the payments would stop. Afer 1.5 years I was having money problems. She kept hauling me into court and getting judments against me. I missed a court date and was picked up on a warrent for contempt of court. She started garnishments of my pay and bank. Recently I found out that she got remarried 3 months after our final divorce. Can I recover all of the time and money from her and charge her with contempt since she knew the divorce said all money stops after she got remarried.

Re: Divorce
I think you would have a case that could be made for contempt (and abuse of process) if the conditions to terminate spousal maintenance had been effected but she used the spousal maintenance clause to get you cited for contempt. You should contact an attorney.
