How long do you have to wait before a piece of property to become yours if its in the divorce settlement? asked ex-spouse to come pick it up for the last 3 years.

That seems a bit excessive, doesn't it? Is there some reason that your ex-spouse can't come get it? Does it cost money to store?

Here is a suggestion, and it's just a suggestion. Write to your ex-spouse. Tell him or her that you have waited three years for him or her to come fetch the property, and that has not happened, and that in the event that they don't make arrangements to pick the thing up within 45 days, you are going to conclude they don't want it, and you will treat it as yours.

Send the letter certified and keep a copy so you can prove you gave them notice.
