Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Dog Custody Battle
I recently ended a 5 year relationship with my ex-gf. We had two dogs that lived with us. One is legally (all paperwork including adoption, license, vet bills, etc.) mine and the other is hers. Originally we planned to share custody of both dogs, but things have become not so friendly and I would like to have my dog back. She is refusing to relinquish the dog to me. Can I take her to small claims court to get my dog from her? This incident is taking place in the state of WA. Thank you for any advice you might have for me.

Re: Dog Custody Battle
You should be able to do it in district court. You will to make sure you title your action as replevin not conversion. Replevin is the action to recover property. Conversion is the action to get the value of the property.
