Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Earlier last month a friend was having her paternal father watch her baby twins for an agreed upon month while she got out of a bad situation came back to finish her ged and find employment. when she returned to get her children he had filed a restraining order on her and filed for custody of the children.

Court: Cowlitz Superior Ct

Case Number: 09-3-00570-7

I was just informed that without going through the paperwork, nor even glancing at the criminal history of the man who is taking her children from her, the judge granted temporary custody. we are now looking into options as to what can be done. if you have the time great, if not it didn't waste much time. Thank you!

By "paternal father" do you mean your friend's father or the father of the babies? The father of the children will have a much stronger claim. The reason for the absence may affect how a court looks at the situation. What was issued was probably an ex parte order, and if there was no hearing, then your friend should note a hearing on the ex parte order.
