Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Emaccipation while on Probation

I'm 16 years old and currently on probation. I would like

to be emacipated. I dont have the choice of living with

my father. And my mom wants me out of her house. i

dont know if she if for signing the papers. But she tells

me that I need to move out. I was just wondering if the

courts would even let me file for emacipation. I'm

enrolled in school and I'm looking for a job at this time.

Thanks for all you help-

H.S.

Re: Emaccipation while on Probation

Yes, it is possible. Read Chapter 13.64 RCW EMANCIPATION OF MINORS, which can be read at

http://www.leg.wa.gov/RCW/index.cfm?fuseaction=chapterdigest&chapter=13.64

The key language will be found in RCW 13.64.020 and requires that you must have the ability to manage your financial affairs and your personal, social, educational, and nonfinancial affairs.

Of course, the reason you are on probation may indicate you are not able to meet those requirements.
