Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Emancipation of a adopted minor

14 an 1/2 yrs ago I gave my daughter up for adoption. I currently have 3 boys that live with me in Olympia Washington, ages are 14,10,and7. My daughter made contact with me about 6 months ago. we (my husband and I) have been driving all our boys up to Bellingham Washington, every couple of weeks to visit her. both my daughter and her brothers feel a deep connection with each other. My daughter would like to come live with me, either she would like to be emancipated or at least have the courts permission to come live with me and her brothers. Do I guide her in just fileing in her county for emancipation or would it be better for her to just ask the courts to allow her to live with me. And what kind of paper work would we need to file to do such.

Re: Emancipation of a adopted minor

This would be the same as any unrelated minor wanting to move in with you. You don't say how old your biological daughter is. The youngest that a person can be emancipated at is age 16. The person to be emancipated has to be able to demonstrate that they are educationally, emotionally, financially capable of supporting themselves without another person's support. If the adoptive parents don't approve of the emancipation the burden to prove she should be emancipated would be practically insurmountable. There are other ways to effect her and your goal, but they are not likely to meet with success unless the adoptive parents support it.
