Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

Emancipation of a minor

If a minor, 16, in the state of washington wants to be emancipated, could the child be able to receive the financial benefits that the adoptive parents are currently receiving? Would this minor be able to move out of their grandparents house, who are currently the ones with custody?

Re: Emancipation of a minor

Persons who want to be emancipated show the court they have the resources to support themselves. Just part of being a grown person.

If the grandparents have custody they are getting support either from the state or from the actual parents.

If there is an adoption there is no support.

Hope this helps. Powell
