Legal Question in Family Law in Washington
Family Law- Post secondary child support
My ex has decided to pay 2 years of our daughter's college. Is he still obligated to pay child support for the summers? She is not self supporting.

Re: Family Law- Post secondary child support
Child support is a monthly obligation that's supposed to cover bills that do not abate in the summer, such as rent. This confuses people, as they can have significant residential time and still have to pay support.
Read your support order. It will say when his obligation ends. Sometimes it is when she graduates high school, sometimes it says post-secondary is required as well.
If you want to modify the support order you have to file the mod before the current order ends or expires.
So, you'll want to read it and see what it says. He can choose to help with college if he wants, of course.
